Using the climbing apparatus is often the highlight of PE in the early years — and it offers so much more than just fun.

Using frames, wall bars and balance beams strongly supports the EYFS Physical Development Early Learning Goal. The children have built on their strength, balance and coordination this half term as they climbed, stretched and moved in different ways. They also continue to develop spatial awareness and body control, learning how to move safely and confidently. The children presented a brilliant understanding of how we can keep safe using the climbing frame and why it was important we followed the safety rules.

Beyond the physical benefits, climbing builds confidence, resilience and independence. The children have loved using the climbing apparatus in PE this half term and we have loved watching our littlest learners grow stronger in both body and mindset.
