We were very lucky to have a real-life Storyteller visit us in Reception. Amber Lickerish and her friend Peter the Parrot joined us from the National Literacy Trust to work with all the children throughout the day. During the first session, Amber told us the story of The King Who Wanted to Touch the Moon. The children were really engaged and enjoyed participating in the storytelling. Each class then had an opportunity to take part in a workshop in the Infant library.
The children thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in all the stories. Each class listened to a different set of stories and excitedly retold them to their friends later on in the day!

A perfect ending to our “Tell Me A Story” topic this half term.

We were inspired by Amber's love of stories and we let our own imaginations run free to create and retell our own class story. We started by planning our own class story map. The children were enthused by to make up their own story up using elements of their favourite books. We then worked together to orally rehearse and retell the story - just like a real Storyteller!
