Light and shadow
Today in Science, we started our light and shadow topic. First we talked about natural and man made light sources. Then we drew a diagram of how we see objects. Then we got the torches out to have a bit of an explore making shadows with our hands and other objects. It was lots of fun, the torches…
Having a ‘wicket’ time!
Today we had our first session of cricket with Danny from Fylde Coast Cricket Coaching. It was so much fun and we all did really well. We practised skills such as catching, over arm bowling, batting and underarm aiming. Click to see photos.

Bee prepared!!
Today we filmed Olive and Beech Class assemBEElies. We are filming Elm class tomorrow and then after some magical editing, they will be uploaded to our school YouTube page. Keep an eye out! The children worked so hard today.
The Jungle Book characters
Today we have been making character profiles for our favourite characters in The Jungle Book. We also did some marching along to Colenel Hathi’s Elephant March.
Spelling Bee winners
A bug well done to all of year 3 for today’s spelling Bee challenge. Beech class winner was Louis Howard, well done Louis! Elm class winner was Bethany Carroll , excellent work Bethany! Olive class winner was Amelie Tomlinson, super spelling Amelie!
Rainy May PE days
It’s been a bit of a wet May so far so we’ve had a dodgeball tournament in our PE lessons. The children are really good at working as a team and it was a great competition.
Elm has BEEn busy
Today Amy and Ethan from the Bee Centre visited Heyhouses. They told us all about bees and we learned lots of really interesting facts. We tasted two types of honey which were delicious.
