Year 6 have designed, planned and created a textile drawstring bag during D.T. lessons.
They had to learn and practise how to thread a needle, knot a thread, sew a button and use a whole variety of stitches.
These stitches include: Basting (tacking) stitch, straight (running) stitch, back stitch, whipping (over) stitch and applique techniques.
The children had to follow their own pattern and sew seams, hems and applique decoration. They also had to thread ribbon through their seam channels to make an effective drawstring.
Zoom into the photograph to appreciate the finer details of their hard work and developing textile skills.
Well done Year 6!
