Year 6 have been drawing whacky portraits of themselves using the Zentangle drawing technique to stylise their individual features.
Zentangle is an American method for drawing. It promotes concentration and creativity and at the same time increases personal well-being. Zentangle was invented by a monk named Rick Roberts and an artist named Maria Thomas. With Zentangle they created a combination of Mindup and Art.
Zentangle is not about good or bad drawings. It is not about right or wrong. All that matters is the drawing itself.
Zentangles consists of a combination of five basic strokes, that are found in every pattern: dot, circle, curve, line, s-shaped line.
Above are a selection of our Zentangle Portraits from Cedar, Ash and Hazel Classes. Can you spot the teachers? We hope you enjoy looking them. Year 6 had a lot of fun drawing them.
